About the artist

My passion for clay began in the late 1970s while living on the far north coast of New South Wales. Local community markets were a hub of inspiration, showcasing skilled artisans who demonstrated the value of handmade creations as an alternative to mass production.

I was especially captivated by the potters, who shared stories of digging their own clay, mixing ash glazes, and gathering wood for the kilns they built from local materials.

Firing the kiln was a communal celebration, where locals came together with music and food to help keep the fire alive. It was during one of these gatherings that I was given my first ball of clay, sparking a lifelong fascination.

After completing a diploma in ceramics at TAFE in the 1990s, I embraced opportunities to grow further, attending workshops, supporting other artists, and joining various community clay groups and ceramics organisations. Later, I completed my degree in Fine Art and Visual Culture.

In recent years, I have exhibited my work in galleries across New South Wales and Victoria, where I’ve had the privilege of being part of a rich community of ceramic artists.
